Origins of the Quadrifoglio Badge

During the 1923 Targa Florio race in Sicily, Italy, the Alfa Romeo team painted a four-leaf clover emblem on their Corsa RL race car, hoping the symbol of luck would grant them their first international racing victory. Alfa Romeo driver Ugo Sivocci would go on to win the race, with his teammate Alberto Ascari following close behind in second place. Following this triumph, Alfa Romeo would make the Quadrifoglio symbol its emblem on all future racing cars.

How the Quadrifoglio Badge has Evolved

Over time, variants of the Quadrifoglio badge were developed for different Alfa Romeo vehicles. High-performance models were marked with a variant known as the “Quadrifoglio Verde,” (green) while top-range models were adorned with a “Quadrifoglio Oro” (gold) badge. The first road car to come equipped with a Quadrifoglio badge was the Giulia TI Super, which was released in 1963 and was limited to a run of only 501 units.

Modern Vehicles Sporting the Quadrifoglio Badge

The thrilling legacy of the Quadrifoglio badge is alive and well today in Alfa Romeo’s modern vehicles. The 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia are both available in Quadrifoglio configurations, built to deliver a sporty and exciting driving experience. Both models sport the iconic Quadrifoglio badge, complemented by racing-inspired design elements found on and inside both models.
