Enzo Ferrari

Enzo Ferrari, who would go on to become the founder of the Ferrari automobile brand, began his automotive career as a test driver for Costruzioni Meccaniche Nazionali (C.M.N.). He eventually worked his way up to become a race car driver, shortly after leaving to compete for Alfa Romeo. There, he would concentrate his efforts on developing and managing Alfa Romeo’s racing team before leaving in 1938.

Ugo Sivocci

Another race car driver who played an influential role in Alfa Romeo history is Ugo Sivocci, who was hired by the company in 1920 to race alongside Enzo Ferrari and Antonio Ascari on a team. In 1923, he would receive a high-profile victory at the 1923 Targa Florio, guaranteeing his spot in racing history. Tragically, Sivocci lost his life in an accident while testing the Alfa Romeo P1. Since his passing, Alfa Romeo has included the green cloverleaf, also known as the quadrifoglio, on each of its race cars as a good luck charm.

Antonio Ascari

Antonio Ascari drove as an Alfa Romeo driver for many events throughout the 20s, including a victory in the Italian Grand Prix, becoming the first Italian to do so. He would go on to win the 1925 Belgian Grand Prix as well, though he would sadly pass away due to an accident at the 1925 French Grand Prix. His son would go on to become a race car driver himself, carrying out a successful career as a Formula 1 driver in the 1950s.
