Sergio Pininfarina

Italian automobile designer Sergio Pininfarina originally got his start in the automotive industry working for his father’s business, Carrozzeria Pininfarina. There, he worked on a number of Ferrari designs that quickly secured him a place in automotive history as a celebrated automotive designer. However, Sergio Pininfarina found himself longing to create vehicles that were not only stylish, but affordable as well. He was able to accomplish this goal at Alfa Romeo, where he created the brand’s first mass-produced vehicle: The 1955 Giulietta Spider.

Elio Zagato

Also known by the names “Zagatino” and “Dr. Elio,” Elio Zagato was a talented Italian automotive designer who first started in the industry working at his father’s design firm, which he would later himself manage. Elio Zagato was also an accomplished racer, and found victory in events such as the Targa Florio and Coppa Inter-Europa. He is known for producing a hand-crafted racing version of the Giulietta, known as the Giulietta SZ. This car won both the 1962 and 1963 FIA Sports car championships (specifically for the 1.3 litre class).
